Tottenham Hotspur’s right-back Emerson Royal has emerged as a primary transfer target for Serie A giants AC Milan, who are looking to strengthen their defensive lineup, particularly the right-back position.
According to the latest report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Spurs initially asked for around 30 million euros, but after weeks of negotiations between intermediaries, the Rossoneri managed to lower the demand from the North London club.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Tottenham would be open to selling the player for around 20 million euros, a figure that is still within reach for the Rossoneri, similar to previous seasons.
Earlier reports indicated that Milan would not spend more than 15-18 million euros to recruit the former Barcelona player.
However, the urgency to reinforce the right flank, especially with Alessandro Florenzi likely to leave the club this summer due to his strained relationship with Paulo Fonseca, has influenced their decision.
It remains uncertain where the former AS Roma star will go, but so far, Bologna appears to be the only team seriously interested in acquiring the experienced player’s signature.
The Milan-based media outlet claims that the Rossoneri will wait for the announcement of their new coach, where senior club advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic will also hold his first press conference for Fonseca.
Transfer News: Djed Spence and Genoa
Tottenham have reportedly received an official bid for their out-of-favor full-back Djed Spence from Serie A club Genoa. The player has been out of the North London club’s plans for the past two seasons.
According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham recently received an official bid for Djed Spence, with the 23-year-old player now one step away from leaving Hotspur Way following the official bid submitted by Genoa for the full-back.
The English defender is reportedly on the verge of leaving The Lilywhites. Signed two years ago with high hopes, Spence never fully realized his potential in North London.
For unknown reasons, the player was never considered during Antonio Conte’s era, and Ange Postecoglou also did not want him, resulting in the right-back being loaned to Leeds United last summer. However, the loan spell did not go as expected, and Leeds sent him back to Spurs last January.
The English player spent the last six months on loan at Genoa in Serie A and finally managed to prove himself. Spence made 16 appearances for the Rossoblu and impressed the club’s executives, who have reportedly flown to discuss a permanent transfer, as reported by Calciomercato. The player is also keen to join the Italian club permanently.
The latest reports from Fabrizio Romano indicate that the Rossoblu have advanced in their pursuit of the 23-year-old’s services by submitting an official bid, and negotiations are ongoing, with the final decision resting with The Lilywhites.
European Championship News: Jack Wilshere on Declan Rice
Jack Wilshere has described Arsenal and England midfielder Declan Rice as a ‘monster’ and ‘freak’ and backs The Three Lions to end their long wait for a trophy at Euro 2024.
Declan Rice aims to shine at Euro 2024 in Germany following an outstanding first season at Arsenal. He played in almost all Premier League matches in the 2023-24 season, playing a crucial role as Mikel Arteta’s side challenged for the title, finishing just two points behind Manchester City.
The 25-year-old was signed by The Gunners for a fee exceeding £100 million, but it already appears to be money well spent as the midfielder quickly became one of the most important players in the Emirates Stadium dressing room.
Jack Wilshere, who shared the locker room with Rice during his time at West Ham, referred to the England star as a ‘freak’ and ‘monster’ in training. Discussing Rice, Wilshere told The Sun: “I didn’t have the physical ability like Dec. He keeps getting better every week. He’s so good on the ball and what he brings physically when off the ball, he’s at the top.
“I used to call him a physical freak, but not just physically, technically as well. The way he trains, he’s a monster. This is a big tournament for him, he was great in the previous tournament but this is the next step. He will show his leadership qualities and when Harry [Kane] is not playing anymore, for me, he is the next England captain.
“His game intelligence has improved so much, but he’s still young, there’s a lot more to come. As a midfielder, you have to look around, take a touch, look and think you’re in space, then suddenly, Dec is there taking the ball from you.”
Much is expected from England ahead of Euro 2024 following promising yet ultimately unsuccessful runs in the last three major tournaments. Gareth Southgate’s team will face Serbia, Denmark, and Slovenia in Group C before hoping to impress in the knockout stages and win their first major trophy since 1966.
When asked about his predictions for Euro 2024, Wilshere said: “I think England will win this tournament. I believe football is coming home, but the Netherlands could be a dark horse.”
