Qatar Airways has been named the “Airline of the Year” for 2024 by, reclaiming the top spot after slipping to No. 2 in the previous year. The rankings are based on a combination of safety and government audits, along with 12 key criteria including product ratings, passenger reviews, safety standards, fleet age, and incident reports.

The list for 2024 is once again dominated by Middle Eastern and Asia-Pacific carriers, with Europe’s Air France/KLM making an appearance at No. 6. The top 25 premium airlines for 2024, according to, include Qatar Airways, Korean Air, Cathay Pacific Airways, Air New Zealand, Emirates, and others.

Geoffrey Thomas, Editor-in-Chief of, highlighted that Qatar Airways excelled in several key areas, winning the top spot by a narrow margin. The airline also secured the title of “Best Business Class” for the fifth consecutive year.

Among other winners, Singapore Airlines was named “Best First Class,” Air New Zealand received the award for “Best Economy Class,” Emirates was recognized for “Best Premium Economy” and “Best In-Flight Entertainment,” and Etihad Airways was honored as the “Best Environmental Airline” for the third consecutive year.

In addition to premium airlines, also assesses low-cost carriers, recognizing the top performers without ranking them. The 2024 list includes airlines like AirAsia Group, EasyJet, JetBlue, Ryanair, and Southwest Airlines. Regional winners were also announced, with Southwest Airlines, FlyDubai, AirAsia Group, Jetstar Group, and EasyJet taking the top spots in their respective regions.
