Testing of the 2024 Toyota Prado sighted in Victoria

The upcoming 2024 Toyota Prado ‘250 Series’ has been generating buzz with its latest sightings in regional Victoria, sporting some previously unseen accessories. Set to arrive in Australia mid-year, the Prado was recently spotted in Bacchus Marsh, showcasing new parts that have Prado enthusiasts excited. The vehicle was configured in right-hand drive, featuring rectangular headlights tailored for the Australian market.

Among the new accessories spotted on the Prado were a newly-designed snorkel and bull-bar color-coded in the new Tanami Taupe finish, along with a winch and red-painted recovery points. These accessories are speculated to be future products available in the Toyota genuine accessories range, adding to the appeal of the upcoming Prado model.

Toyota has been conducting local testing on the LandCruiser Prado, including accessory testing, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the company. The new Prado is expected to hit Australian showrooms later this year, offering a 150kW/500Nm 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. Overseas models of the Prado feature a hybrid variant with a 243kW/630Nm powertrain.

The mild-hybrid technology in the Australian model serves to reduce fuel consumption by powering auxiliary systems like lights and air conditioning, rather than directly driving the wheels. The Prado is set to come in five model grades in Toyota showrooms: GX, GXL, VX, Kakadu, and Altitude, with a 3500kg braked towing capacity across the range.

Although prices for the 2024 Toyota Prado have not been confirmed yet, an increase is expected over the current model’s price range of $62,830 to $87,468 plus on-road costs. This anticipated price increase aligns with the larger body, new technology features, and the electrified boost to the engine that the upcoming Prado is set to offer.

Overall, the 2024 Toyota Prado is shaping up to be a highly anticipated release in the Australian market, with its new accessories and advanced technology setting it apart from its predecessors. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new addition to the Toyota lineup.
