Southwest Airlines Offers Flights for as Low as $49 in Their Newest Sale

Southwest Airlines is offering discounted flights ahead of a busy summer travel season. The airline recently launched the “Start Off Summer With A Sale” event, where travelers can find fares as low as $49 one-way. Additionally, members of Southwest’s frequent flier program, Rapid Rewards, can redeem points for discounted tickets, starting at 3,800 points for a one-way ticket.

The fare sale is valid for travel between May 21 and Nov. 20 and runs through Thursday, May 16, at 11:59 p.m. PST. Some of the deals available include flights from Atlanta to Columbus for $59, Austin to New Orleans for $59, and Fort Lauderdale to Raleigh/Durham for $89.

Travelers who are planning to visit the Hawaiian Islands this summer can also take advantage of special discounts on inter-island travel. Southwest is offering $49 one-way flights between Honolulu, HI (Oahu) to Maui, Kona, Kauai, and Hilo.

Before booking, travelers should review the sale’s terms, including blackout dates, and understand that all fares are non-refundable. In addition to the fare sale, Southwest has made some changes to their route network and introduced new perks for loyalty members.

The airline recently launched a new “Cash + Points” program, which allows travelers to combine different payment methods for a flight’s cost. Southwest has also announced that it will be closing operations at several airports later this summer, including Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Syracuse’s Hancock International Airport, in an effort to optimize the airline’s network.

Furthermore, Southwest will be starting new seasonal service from Orlando to Nassau, Bahamas from June 4 through August 4. With all these developments, now is the perfect time to take advantage of Southwest’s discounted fares and explore new destinations this summer.
