Romania and Ukraine are vying for position in Group E of Euro 2024. The match will take place at Allianz Arena on Monday, June 17, 2024.

Sharing a group with Belgium, both countries are determined to secure the last automatic ticket to the knockout stage of the European Championship 2024. Therefore, a victory against their direct competitor is crucial.

Despite this, Romania holds a better head-to-head record against Ukraine. They have won three matches compared to Ukraine’s two in their six encounters. This statistic highlights how fiercely contested the upcoming match will be.

“Every opponent in the European Championship is tough, and the same goes for Romania, who topped their qualifying group. We must respect every opponent. However, we also choose to focus on our own game,” asserted Ukraine’s coach Serhiy Rebrov, as quoted on UEFA’s official website.

Romania’s lack of goals in 2024 raises questions about their striker’s identity. Coach Edward Iordanescu must choose between Denis Alibec, George Puscas, or Denis Dragus.

Veteran goalkeeper Florin Nita is also keen to be the starter, outplaying Horatiu Moldovan. Moldovan has not played since moving to Atletico Madrid in the January 2024 transfer window.

Other Romanian players are also involved in internal competition to fill the main team, including Valentin Mihaila and Dennis Man, who aim to capitalize on Olimpiu Morutan’s absence from the tournament due to an ACL injury.

On the Ukrainian side, first-choice left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko is out after an ankle injury. Consequently, Oleksandr Zinchenko might drop back to defense after usually playing midfield for the national team.

Mykhailo Mudryk and Viktor Tsygankov will be key players for Ukraine on the wings, supporting playmaker Heorhiy Sudakov and lone striker Artem Dovbyk.

Romania (4-1-4-1): Florin Nita; Andrei Ratiu, Radu Dragusin, Adrian Rus, Nicusor Bancu; Marius Marin; Dennis Man, Razvan Marin, Nicolae Stanciu, Valentin Mihaila; Denis Dragus

Ukraine (4-3-3): Andriy Lunin; Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mykola Matviyenko, Illia Zabarnyi, Yukhym Konoplia; Mykola Shapanenko, Georgiy Sudakov; Mykhaylo Mudryk, Artem Dovbyk, Viktor Tsygankov

The match between Austria and France will take place in Group D of Euro 2024 at Merkur Spiel-Arena, Düsseldorf, Germany, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 02:00 WIB. This match will be broadcast live by RCTI and Vision+.

This game will be a clash of two teams of different calibers. Das Team, Austria’s nickname, has never progressed past the round of 16 in the European Championship, while Les Bleus, France’s nickname, have won two titles. However, France has some issues to address since their performance in the European Championship three years ago.

France comfortably topped their qualifying group and has been in excellent form in recent months. Les Bleus drew 0-0 against Canada in their previous friendly match. Didier Deschamps’ team must return to top form to advance.

Austria, on the other hand, finished second behind Belgium in Euro 2024 qualifying. The team has made significant progress under Ralf Rangnick’s management. Austria drew 1-1 against Switzerland last week and needs to improve for this match.

Several key Austrian players will be watching from the sidelines due to injuries, including David Alaba and Sasa Kalajdzic, who both have knee injuries. RB Leipzig midfielder Xaver Schlager is also out due to a knee issue.

However, Austria’s all-time appearance leader Marko Arnautovic is included in the squad. Nonetheless, Michael Gregoritsch is expected to win the striker position in Rangnick’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

Right-back Stefan Posch has recovered from his knee injury and is ready to start in defense. Gernot Trauner is also on the mend despite missing Friday’s training session.

For the French national team, Kingsley Coman has recovered from illness and is set to play. Kylian Mbappe is also preparing to participate despite a knee injury in the friendly against Luxembourg.

Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni is still recovering from a foot injury. Juventus player Adrien Rabiot is expected to be given a starting position.

In defense, Arsenal player William Saliba is likely to start. Deschamps has changed his decision and will place Ibrahima Konate on the bench.
