Ford’s 2025 Mustang GTD Receives Over 7,500 Buyer Applications
Ford has recently announced that it received an overwhelming response from potential buyers for its 2025 and 2026 model year allocations of the Mustang GTD. With more than 7,500 applications from interested buyers across North America, it seems that there is no shortage of enthusiasts willing to shell out a hefty sum for this high-performance machine.
Interestingly, Ford revealed that one out of every four applicants was already an existing Mustang owner, showcasing the brand loyalty that the iconic pony car enjoys. Additionally, one in five applicants owned a car from a rival brand with similar performance credentials, indicating a desire for something new and exciting in the segment.
The Mustang GTD is set to make its European debut in June, coinciding with the 24 Hours of Le Mans event. The track-focused car boasts carbon-fiber bodywork, an advanced suspension system, and a powerful supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine with an expected output of around 800 horsepower.
Not only does the Mustang GTD offer impressive performance figures, but it also features active aerodynamics including a Drag Reduction System inspired by Formula 1 technology. This system automatically adjusts the rear wing and front/rear flaps to optimize downforce and handling characteristics during high-speed cornering.
Ford has set ambitious performance targets for the Mustang GTD, including a Nürburgring lap time of less than seven minutes. Testing at the famous track is set to commence this summer, with an official record attempt planned before the end of the year.
Production details for the Mustang GTD remain scarce, with Ford indicating that production will be limited and outsourced to Multimatic, the same company responsible for building the acclaimed Ford GT supercar. With such high demand and limited availability, the Mustang GTD is poised to become a rare and coveted gem in the performance car market.
Overall, it’s clear that the Ford Mustang GTD has captured the hearts and wallets of performance car enthusiasts, promising a thrilling driving experience and exclusivity for those lucky enough to secure one of these high-performance machines.
