First Look at the New VW Transporter Before its September Release

Volkswagen has recently teased the design of their upcoming next-generation Transporter van, giving us a glimpse of the new and improved look for their popular commercial vehicle. Set to be unveiled at the IAA Transportation show in Germany in September, the van has already hit the markets in Germany with a starting price of €36,780.

The new Transporter maintains its classic design elements such as the short nose, steep windscreen, and the iconic ‘Bulli’ line along the sides. The front end features a large grille and redesigned headlights, aligning it with the brand’s ID Buzz and Multivan models. Despite its familiarity, the new Transporter is longer than both the ID Buzz and Multivan, measuring between 5050mm and 5450mm in length.

At the rear, the van sports C-shaped LED lights inspired by previous models, along with horizontal character lines on the tailgate to emphasize width. The Transporter will be equipped with 16in, 17in, and 19in wheels, the latter being the largest in the van’s history. Chief designer Albert Kirzinger emphasizes the new interpretation of the classic design, keeping the Transporter line updated and successful for over eight decades.

The upcoming Ford Transit Custom twin, which shares a new architecture with the Transporter, will also be available as an electric vehicle for the first time. The van was recently spotted testing on German roads in electric form, featuring a charging flap under the right-hand headlight. The new model is expected to maintain the versatility of its predecessor with options for cargo-carrying panel vans, tippers, shuttles, and kombis.

Overall, the new Volkswagen Transporter promises to be a stylish and innovative update to the long-standing van series. With its blend of tradition, modern design, and electric capabilities, it looks set to continue its legacy as one of the most successful vans in the world.
