Expansion of Lindblad Expeditions in the Galapagos Islands

Lindblad Expeditions, known for its luxury cruise experiences, is set to enhance its presence in the Galapagos by acquiring two ships from Celebrity Cruises. The 48-guest Celebrity Xpedition and the smaller 16-guest Celebrity Xploration will soon become part of the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fleet after a planned purchase expected to be finalized in January 2025. Both vessels will undergo substantial renovations to align with Lindblad’s high standards for responsible exploration.

These ships were specifically designed for cruising in the Galapagos, offering travelers an immersive experience in this unique and biodiverse region. Lindblad’s founder and CEO, Sven-Olof Lindblad, expressed the company’s commitment to providing guests with unforgettable journeys while emphasizing the importance of conservation efforts in the Galapagos.

The rebranded ships will be available for booking soon, offering guests a chance to explore the Galapagos in style. The Celebrity Xpedition features two dining venues and a variety of cabin options, including balcony suites, while the Celebrity Xploration is ideal for family trips and private charters.

In addition to these new additions, Lindblad currently operates a fleet of 17 expedition ships worldwide, offering unique experiences from Antarctica to Egypt. Meanwhile, Celebrity Cruises will continue its presence in the Galapagos with the Celebrity Flora, an all-suite ship with innovative amenities like the option to sleep under the stars in a cabana on deck.

The expansion of Lindblad Expeditions in the Galapagos underscores the growing demand for sustainable and immersive travel experiences. With these new ships, travelers can look forward to exploring this iconic destination with a renewed focus on conservation and responsible tourism. Lindblad’s acquisition of the Celebrity vessels signals a bright future for expedition cruising in the Galapagos, where guests can connect with nature and support conservation efforts through their travel experiences.
