Emirates Airlines Reports Record Annual Profit in 2023-2024 Financial Year

Dubai-based carrier Emirates airline has announced a record annual profit of 17.2 billion dirhams ($4.7 billion) for the 2023-2024 financial year, marking a 63% increase from the previous year. The airline, known as the flag carrier of the UAE, has experienced a strong recovery in the travel sector and has been expanding its route network to meet the growing demand for air travel.

The latest financial results from the world’s largest long-haul airline represent the best in its history, driven by a surge in travel demand across various customer segments. Emirates reported carrying 51.9 million passengers in the 2023-24 financial year, a 19% increase from the previous year, with seat capacity also increasing by 21%.

Revenue for the airline rose by 13% to 121.2 billion dirhams, while airline capacity saw a 20% increase, bringing it closer to pre-pandemic levels. Emirates Group, which includes the airline and airline services and ground handling company dnata, also reported its best-ever financial performance with a record profit of 18.7 billion dirhams, a 71% jump from the prior year.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates, attributed the airline’s success to its ability to quickly respond to customer demand and deliver exceptional service. He emphasized the importance of continuous investments in products, services, partnerships, and talented staff.

Looking ahead, Emirates has more than 300 passenger jets on order as it continues to expand its fleet. Additionally, Dubai’s leadership has approved a multi-billion dollar plan to build a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, making it five times larger than Dubai’s main international airport and the largest in the world.
